Hello fellow Poms!
Well my time in Melbourne is coming to an end and im going to be traveling again. I went to the AFL game and it was a lot of fun, although it is a bit of a silly game. I imagine some kids in a playground made it up. And they get points for missing the goal! I also just watched their grand final of the season. Which ended in a draw and they have to reply the match the following week. For a final!! Very silly, but apparently that’s only ever happened 3 times in history and now they are thinking of changing the rules so they have t play extra time on the day of the final.
I’ve finally been to the Melbourne Zoo! You’ve probably seen the photos but it was pretty amazing. Best zoo I’ve been to, so I can’t wait for Australia Zoo. You get to walk through the areas with the kangaroos and koalas and emus. Emus scare me a lot! Like smaller Ostriches.
I’ve also been to the Queen Victoria Market in the city which is in a covent garden like setting with the little shops around the outside but much bigger and fillers with stall of everything you could think of. Meat, fish, veg, flowers, bread, cakes,clothes, souvenirs, jewellery, furniture, I bought some charms for my Pandora bracelet and a gorgeous silver locket for my necklace. I want to put a photo of emelia and a photo of dad in it but it’s difficult to get them to fit.
I have also purchased a new bag to replace my backpack. It’s a holdall with wheels so I don’t have to lug it around. Its bright pink (obviously) and its pretty big but weigh about the same as the back pack so I should be ok for weight on the flights. And I’v finished all my paperwork for blumin insurance claim and will be sending it off this weekend!
I’m still working at the motel. Only got one shift last week cos it was finals week so we had no bookings and only got 2 shifts this week as the finals replay is on so we had a massive party cancel on us. But I have a little extra cash for when I get traveling again. Ive had a lot of fun there and if I come back to Melbourne at any point im pretty much guaranteed a job. We had a function the other week for an 18th birthday party!! It was incredible I will add the photos of the cake stand and the dress the girl wore. She had like 6 cakes and She looked like a princess and even ha a party dress undernear for the dancing later on! Amazing!
I went to the Royal Melbourne Show on Sunday with Ryan as Brian was there with his dog Mason doing some competition things. It was a really warm day and I had tights and shorts on. I was sweating as any English person would in 20 degree heat wearing tights and double layers. But they had jumpers on! So funny how people can feel things so differently. Mason didn’t win unfortunately but I had a fun day seeing all the dogs and seeing some alpacas, think I have spelt that right. Very odd creatures ive never seen before. It was a mix of sheep and camal and giraffe lol. Body of a sheep, head of a camal (and they spit occasionally) and they have a long neck.
Ive met most of the family now, included brains nephew, Daniel who lives up in Darwin who said I can stay with him when I get there and also colleens brother Mark who knows someone in perth who I can stay with which is awesome. They have all just been amazing and made me feel like part of the family. Gonna miss them a lot, it feels a bit weird thinking I will probably never see any of these people again.
I’m living with Andrew( the other son) at his new house now which is loving, despite a few problems lol. I’ve had such a good time in Melbourne but I don’t feel like im a traveller anymore, just living and working, and the weather still isn’t great so not much different to home! Im really looking forward to getting back on my tour bus and meeting some people who are hopefully traveling all the way to Darwin at the same time as me. I would like to have some friends to go to Cairns with.
I leave next Saturday and first travel along the great ocean road which is supposed to be incredible! And on to Adelaide then alice springs then Darwin. This whole trip will take me up to October 26th. It will be pretty hot b then, especially up in the north, and im actually genuinely scared, it’s gonna be like the heat wave in zante all over again, when I couldn’t go out during the day!!
So hopefully next time I update which will probably be when I get to Darwin I will have done lots of exciting stuff and hopefully lost all the weight ive put on in melbourne haha!!
